There is some bismuth about, try Clayton and Frank O. They have had stock in the past and may still have some. Be prepared for $60+ per packet.

Bismuth shot is again available in the US but it is now around US$155 per bottle, before shipping. You get 4 boxes of 32g shells per bottle. So you would be looking at around $50 per box before you load the stuff. If you are desperate might be worth the trouble?

http://www.precisionreloading.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PRE&Category_Code=BISMUTH_SHOT

Or you could be nice to George and he might load you some up?
Might have left your run a bit late

You can try here

http://www.fga.net.au/www/251/1027502/displayarticle/1028107.html

Other than that you can ring the DSE and make an appointment to sit the WIT
Hi Chicken, I would take the gun to Mialls and get them to measure the bore/choke diameter accurately, because it may be able to handle light 32gm (3 or 4 only) steel ok without any problems. Failing that your best bet is to borrow a gun from a mate or perhaps trial a secondhand one from your local gunshop. If you don't ask you don't get.

Good luck.
Thank you for your reply George.
What are the chokes?....I would be guessing I'm afraid!

This gun was my fathers (RIP), and was brought over from the old country some 60 years ago. Its in remarkable condition and is of incrdible sentimental value.
For this reason that I will respectfuly decline your advice of modification.

I'm putting the word out that someone has a couple of boxes they are willing to sell.

Hi,

The problem is that there is no available stock of Bismuth, Tin or Tungsten Polymer shot ammunition that would go into your sxs without fear of damage. Even if you were able to order this stuff in, it is unlikely to get here before the opening.

The obvious answer is barrel modification. Firstly, what choke constrictions does the side x side actually have................please don't guess.

I would suggest getting the choke(s) opened up to Modified (0.020") to begin with. If your prepared to do a decent job, I'd suggest having Briley thin-wall chokes fitted, these will handle all forms of non-toxic shot through a large range of choke constrictions.

Hope this helps
Hi Guys,

I have found myself in a bit of a predicament.

My beloved has gone in for repair, (no it couldn’t wait) and now I have my trusty old sxs for the opening.
Trouble is, you guessed it, its old and there isn’t any non toxic shot anywhere to be bought, in the country apparently, apart from steel and I cant put steel though it.......

Any suggestions....any at all........pleeeease!

Chicken
